If you’re looking for a potential spark in your fantasy lineup, here are a few guys that might be worth a look.
After five weeks, we’ve seen some surprises and some disappointments in the fantasy football world.
To have a good fantasy season, you need a little bit of football knowledge, and a whole lot of luck. For example, someone with a little bit of football knowledge would’ve known that Jimmy Garoppolo would’ve been a decent option at quarterback for his/her fantasy team. But anyone who drafted Garoppolo got hit by a truckload of bad luck when he tore his ACL a few weeks back.
Things like this are unexpected, and you have to adjust on the fly. You have to make a few key pickups along the course of your season. When you aren’t getting lucky, you have to look for potential breakout players to add to your roster in the hopes of keeping your season afloat.
With that in mind, here are five players that could potentially come up big for your fantasy team if you’re willing to take a chance on them…
5. Trey Burton, TE – Chicago Bears
There’s a solid chance that Trey Burton, the former tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles and current key target of Mitchell Trubisky in the Chicago Bears offense, might already be owned by someone in your league. But if he’s not and you need some tight end help in Week 6, Burton isn’t a bad option to have.
When my starting tight end Delanie Walker suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 1, I was forced to adjust on the fly and pick up a tight end who hadn’t already been selected that I thought could potentially have a big year. Burton was the guy I took a chance on.
He’s had a few up and down games, but the Bears offense finally erupted against Tampa Bay in Week 4 and Burton came up with a wild 39-yard touchdown reception from Trubisky.
After their bye week in Week 5, the Bears are back in action in Miami this week, and Burton, Trubisky and that Chicago offense could be poised for another big afternoon.
